June Tip of the Month!

Its so exciting to know that in a short month or two GOL events will be taking place across our district (some have already happend)! Thank you for your willingness to serve! Here are some small reminders as your event approaches:

- Connect: Ensure all your volunteers are ready and still committed. Take some time to meet and underline expectations. Also spend some time praying for the event. IMPORTANT: ensure ALL VOLUNTEERS have police checks!

- Collaborate: Verify all your bookings are in place, and communicate to your team what still needs to be done. In terms of supplies, paperwork, food etc.

- Construct: Begin to make up a schedule of the day to get an idea of how you want things to run. Also begin to brainstorm and implement advertising for your event. You don't want to be to early but also don't want to be to late. 2-3 weeks prior to event is ideal!

HAVE FUN! And don't forget to share how your event goes!

April is here! And so is another planning tip...

§ RECRUIT – time to start recruiting those volunteers! Keep an eye out for the Volunteer Handbook that will be available to you by the end of April J

§ READY supplies – get in the ready position. April is should be the time where fields are booked and supply kits are bought. If you are purchasing any GOL soccer kits now is the time to do so (kits are backordered)! § REACH – prepare to reach others with your GOL promotions. Making your church and community aware of this event and getting them on board is pivotal to this event’s success (well… it comes second to the Holy Spirit working through GOL, but you know what we mean!)

Here we go! Each month the GOL planning team hopes to bring your GOL committee tips on how to best prepare for your event. Remember to check out all of the resources available on our Resources page.

If you have any extra suggestions or ideas that you would like to share with the district, or if there's something we have forgotten to provide you, please send us an email.

This month's recommendations are:

1. BRAINSTORM with your GOL committee

- Will the event work?

- How many people do you need to make the event happen?

- Does the event serve a need previously not met in your church/community?

- Do we have the resources to make it happen?

2. CREATE A BUDGET

- See sample budget planning sheet on Resources page

3. START SCHEDULING

*This part is crucial. If you plan on renting/booking a field for your event, make sure you do this as soon as possible to ensure you get the date you want.

- Talk with the appropriate field rental office

o What size field do you need?

o What tech needs do you have?

o What can you afford?

- Tentatively book a couple of dates

- Call the field provider and confirm your date

4. GET PEOPLE EXCITED
- Once your church/zone is on board, start getting the word out. Recruit some volunteers and plan a date where you can all get together and discuss roles/responsibilities (some important roles are noted on the 'Event Checklist' on the Resources page).
